Rest in peace Daddy! I will forever miss you.

Yah! I finally did it! :D

I finally graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Visual Communications. Technically I still have to take one more class in the summer but they let me walk and I will just get my degree after I complete the course (oh well!). I have been going to Weber State University ever since I graduated high school in 2004. I have paid for my own way and had to work up to three jobs in the course of my education. It took me seven years to do but I have (atlas!) finally completed! :) I keep getting asked the question of "what am I going to do now?" Now, I am going to celebrate and get back to life without having enormous amounts of homework.

I'm content working at America First and it is my main source of income. I do like to drive for Pizza Hut, but sad to say I make more at the hut then I do at the credit union:/ But I don't like to put too much wear and tear on my car. I do not want to do the banking business for the rest of my life but I like to do my job. It has also been very beneficial with financial life lessons; it has helped me understand how to manage money, establishing credit, etc. But it's not my passion. I went into graphic design because I was passionate about it and I would love to do it for a career. However, I have a 401k established through the credit union, in order to receive all of their contributions for it I would have to have worked there for five years. It will be five years this December. I'm probably not going to start looking for a graphic design job till the fall. I will however look for side jobs in graphic design, I need all the experience I can get! :)

I'm excited to get my life back in order. I got a little stressed out and have established a bad relationship with food. I need to get rid of this extra weight that built up. I'm happy that I will be able to see my loved ones more. They have been very supportive along the way and can't wait to have a fun summer. I have become such a mess with my belongings and it's nice to have time to clean it up. I want to tell everyone I love them! Thank you for all your support! :)

last week of the semester!

Wow, time flew by...I only have classes this week and then next week is finals and I also graduate!!!! 12 days and counting! :) If you can make it to see my portfolio at the KVAC BFA Thesis Exhibition (ceremony opening Friday April 15rh 7pm-9pm) it will make my day! :) The AIGA portfolio review went ok...I didn't get the feedback I wanted or much feedback for that matter. I have learned as a designer it's good to get feedback because you know if you suck or if you're great because they will normally tell you...I just got nods of the heads:/ It was still a neat experience nonetheless. I just got to push my hardest through this next week and then I can finally rest! ... :)
Come see it! :)

17 days till AIGA portfolio review (THE BIG ONE!)

I have a lot to do but I'm quite excited to be graduating this semester! Even though I technically only need 2 more credits...I was planning on taking Design Production this summer. This class is offered every summer but I found out they aren't offering it this semester. ...why? because my professor that is ahead of my department wants to do his "drawing on the land" class.  I asked the office what I should do since they signed me off to graduate with the exception of the design production class. They said I could go camping in the desert for two weeks to get the credit. Turns out I can get graphic design credit because at the end of the trip an exhibition will be presented, showcasing our experience. Can't beat getting 3 credits in two weeks but it consists of a backpacking trip! As much as I regret saying this, I have never been backpacking. It will definitely be a neat experience but I think it will be an awesome last class of my undergraduate studies! My family and loved ones never seem to cease to point out that I need to get into shape for this experience...I know they want the best for me and yes, I know I've put on weight but I will handle it!!! :)

I have 17 days until the AIGA portfolio review. The one I went to was the "pre-review." This one, I will have professionals and other students critique my portfolio. But my portfolio needs to be complete, which at this point it is not. I need to showcase at least 5 projects that are expanded quite extensively. This week is spring break and I have some time off due to this. I need to get a lot done this week. I should be more prepared that I am! (wow...this isn't new.) :)

So this semester is flying by. It's already midterms and I'm already soo behind! I spent a lot of unwanted time on the cowboy poster: here is the completed version...I'm glad to finally have it out of my hair and I hope they actually like it.
